A few console menu tips to make your Starfield experience smoother!

Discussion

I’m playing on PS5 so these will be for that but should also work on Xbox (other than Dualsense specific features which may or may not work on PC.)

- Double tap the start button to pull up the main Starfield menu where you can save and access settings. I HATE having to press three buttons to quick save. With this it’s just a quick double tap of the start button and then hitting X to quick save. It’s sooo much faster! Yes I made this whole post just for this one tip lmao.

- Hold the start button to open your star map and maybe your regular map too but I can’t tell atm as it only opens my star map. I’m still in the beginning of the game.

- Swiping up on the touchpad on the dualsense brings you straight to your inventory. Left takes you to something I won’t spoil and unlocks later and for now just brings you to the menu. Right goes to skills and down goes to quests. Pressing right on the touchpad opens your map and pressing left changes POV.

- you don’t have to go to the star map when you’re in front of a planet like the tutorial tells you. You can just tap x on the planet to open it instead of going through multiple menus. Idk how cruise mode works with that as I haven’t done it yet.

If there are more tips you’ve discovered feel free to comment. I’m sure there’s a ton of gameplay tips but these were just some tips for navigating the menu in the game to make the experience smoother.
