I need some advice

Hello, it's my first time with shrimps. And my fish tank brings a suction filter and I put a sponge on it so that it doesn't absorb the shrimps, but it already happened to me once that one was absorbed so I put another piece of sponge so that nothing happens. Now I have the problem that the filter does not absorb well and has a large bubble in the tube that the water comes out and I have tried everything to remove that bubble, so I am a little tired of the problems it gives, I recently read that maybe a sponge filter would help and that it is ideal for shrimps. Do you recommend me to change the filter or do I keep the one I have and look for a solution with it?
