Did Jason start rethinking his path when he had to torture Riley?
Replaying through the game right now and I just played the part where you torture Riley for Hoyt. I’ve always kind of had this thought a little bit, but it really hit me more on this playthrough. But do you think this moment is when Jason started to maybe question his path on the island and with the Rakyat?
Now obviously he was still as motivated as ever to kill Hoyt and destroy his organization by any means necessary. But remembering back to when Jason rescued Keith from Buck (who likes to…) Jason still had every intention of returning with his friends; then when Keith tells Jason that Riley was killed that seemed to flip a switch in Jason to where he only saw life with the Rakyat as a warrior. But then when he sees that Riley is alive, the switch gets flipped again, or is at least on the verge flipping. Then after he beats Riley he looks at his hands questioning who he has become; almost questioning if this is who he wants to be for the rest of his life.
Even if then he wasn’t sure, I think Jason’s phone call with Dennis after he destroys Hoyt’s communications hub almost cements the very real possibility that Jason will leave the Rakyat after killing Hoyt and return with his friends. Which in turn leads to the Rakyat to kidnap the others back to try and convince Jason to stay.
What does everyone think? Was Jason finding Riley alive what convinced Jason to change his mind about staying with the Rakyat or was it something else?
