My cat won’t stop crying

I have 2 cats and 1 is absolutely driving me crazy. Every night from about 9pm to 12am my cat will sit at the doors to some storage cabinets and cry. It’s almost nonstop, I’ve tried petting him, playing with him, he has food and water. At most I can distract him for maybe 10 minutes before he continues. I know cats are curious and he just wants to explore but the cabinets have glass jars that they have knocked over in the past, therefore the cabinets are locked.

The only way I’ve found to stop it is when I lay down to sleep and he snuggles next to me. Which is fine when I’m going to sleep but my entire evening is interrupted by constant cries.

Any advice on what I can do? I try to refrain from raising my voice (not that it really does anything when I do) but it’s beyond frustrating. I’ve even put him in his crate but he will cry if you leave him in there for more than a few minutes.

I’m seriously at my wits end here, I love the guy but after an hour of crying I’m about ready to kill him.

To note, I don’t believe it’s medical related, he eats and plays and I haven’t seen anything concerning in the litter box. He does not do this during the day either.
