Bestfriend is Ghosting me (Again) after getting into a Relationship

Vent

I’m at the point where I think I’m just going to block my friend and move on. This is the 5th girl he’s dated this past year and he always puts me as his close friend on the back burner after rushing into a relationship head first.

My friend and I are pretty close and his family is like my second family since I live away from my family. I’ve been over to his house many times, had Thanksgiving dinner with his family, went to see Christmas lights with them, and just feel like I’m their adoptive daughter atp.

My friend got a girlfriend in July and started hanging out with me less and less which was fine but when they broke up, guess who he called for hours ranting or asking for advice? I happily helped him out with emotional support since he’s my friend, but then he got another girlfriend that he rushed into a relationship with and guess who was there when it went wrong after he had ghosted me for a while again. Then, he started talking to a different girl for a few months, ghosted me again and just said he was busy with school and work. That didn’t work out and guess who was there again for moral support.

Recently, his family invited me to church for Easter and I was so excited because I’m not very religious and hadn’t gone to church in years. I accept the invitation and call him the day before to confirm logistics. That’s when he tells me that he started talking to this new girl and has been seeing her for about a month and that they already said I love you and he’s going to ask her out soon. He said he didn’t want to make her uncomfortable being friends with me since I’m a girl and uninvited me to Easter on Sunday (which he wasn’t even going to attend since he was going to sleep in from working late the night before).

I am just at my wits end of being put to the side or being ghosted or literally uninvited from stuff once he gets into a relationship or decided he likes someone. I have my own friends and hobbies so this is not a codepenency issue either. We have only ever been platonic and I’m still in love with my ex so I truly don’t understand where his thought process comes from but I try to since I’m his friend and want to see him happy but I’m so tired. I feel we are too old for this dynamic as I’m 22 and he’s 21.

I think it might be time to just block him and move on with my life. He’s been doing this for nearly a year now and it makes me feel so bad about myself and our friendship. He’s a great friend when he IS around but I just don’t think I can deal with this situation anymore. I’m especially exhausted from being the one to help him piece himself back together after it doesn’t work out. I’ve brought up the topic before but he dismissed me saying he’s just busy or that he doesn’t INTENTIONALLY avoid me. It sucks a lot because I considered him a good friend but this is draining me and I know I need to move on.
