Brain fog and pain 80% gone after Nerve Blocks
Just got lesser and greater occipital nerve blocks on both sides a few hours ago.
I have been dealing with head pressure emanating from the base of the skull and random stabbing headaches since I got in a snowboarding accident a few years ago. This is the first time I felt clear headed and "normal" in three years. I've tried months of physical therapy (which helped a lot up to a certain point), acupuncture, and various medications. The first two neurologists I saw (including a headache specialist) diagnosed me with PCS, cervicogenic headache, and post-traumatic headache. The headache specialist even told me nerve blocks would be pointless. I had to reach out to a Neurologist in a pain management clinic who immediately diagnosed me with occipital neuralgia and booked the nerve blocks.
Even if it's just temporary i feel much less anxiety and I'm able to study hard again. It's crazy how much "brain fog" is related to neuropathic pain and that a lot of neurologists fail to identify ON because it's not the textbook definition of intense electric shock type pain. Basically, even if you don't fit the typical ON symptom profile I think it's a good idea to at least rule it out.
