HELP PLEASE

Today i had a package that was supposed to be delivered to me from overseas, It says the package was delivered at 8am nothing there, maybe it was juat a glitch a in the system fast forward 8pm i call the usps customer support and they tell me that they delivered the package to a address that’s has a similar number to my address put completely different streets. So i go to the address to kindly ask if they had a package with my name, the house has a huge gate around it and is locked. Will usps get my package back like they said the would and what if the person doesn’t cooperate?
