[PC] [2005ish?] Game with runes

now this is going to be a shot in the dark considering it would have been about 20 years ago when i played this last & i had to have been around 8-10 (adult geared game though). i apologize in advance for making this difficult because i do not remember much.

i feel like i remember this game having an ARPG feel to it. OG game chat format i believe (like diablo 2). i’m imagining having a stash/backpack where you could store a bunch of runes. when you identified the rune or held it, i think it lit up light blue. maybe there were monoliths that you had to interact with involving the runes (i know what you may be thinking only since i mentioned it earlier, & it’s not diablo 2).

characters were viking-y or maybe scandinavian? i think i remember some sort of consistent interaction with the same scroll you kept on your body. & i believe it was PC only.

i have a single foggy still image of gameplay in my head, & i can’t for the life of me find anything to match it. any ideas? TIA.
