Am I overreacting for thinking my mother might be emotionally manipulative+being untrusting of her after a recent incident?

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws

So, I don't really know how to start a post like this. I just want advice (as you can tell from the titled). Me(15) and my mom's(56) relationship has always been kind of odd in my opinion? She's been overly clingy all throughout my childhood, according to my dad she was even seriously considering getting a helmet for my younger self), along with breast feeding me up until the age of five and allowing me to co-sleep up until the age of 10.
But at the same time she's also been a very difficult person to deal with. My first true memory is getting in between my parents while they were having a screaming match. My mother often yells at me (and I also yell back, because at this point it's the only thing I can to do be heard during this), and when I say often I mean like a minimum 3 times a week. She claims that this is a normal relationship between parent and child and that all my friends probably go through the same stuff, and honestly my dad's parenting style is so out of the norm (I am more like something he's affectionately observing from the outside like some form of science experiment progressing than how most parents traditionally view their kids, but in a good way). And then after all these arguments blow up, it takes a night or two to settle down and then she's back to being my best friend with no apology from either party.
Recently we had an incident where during an argument she shot her hand out at me to "grab my face" (to presumably scream into it or something), I manage to flinch away from this (thanks dickbag friends) and retreat into my bedroom. My friend who was there at the time was outside of my room while I was grabbing all my stuff, and mother started talking about how when she was a kid that she'd "never do this type of behaviour without getting spanked"? (the situation has "cooled down" a bit, but tonight we had another screaming match)
I don't trust her anymore not to hit me, I don't want to forgive her, but I really don't know if this is just all me. My mom has also made me constantly paranoid of things like genetic diseases (using her dead cousin as a "haha, reminder to get healthier" moment), random chance, kidnappings and murders. I don't want to live with her but my dad thinks it's important for her to be involved(? though after the divorce he did up in a incredibly abusive/toxic relationship, so I don't know)
Thanks for reading this, I just wanted advice from adults on the outside, I wrote this all in one sitting so if this is confusing or wordy please ask questions to clarify things.
