Is the lawyer route promising?
Hi, I'm M23, graduated this Dec (3.1 gpa) in CJUS and with my 2nd LSAT being a 165. I've interned at the PD [paralegal] and OAG [mediator] office with great connections/referrals. I enjoy the work and helping people but I noticed both supervisors OFTEN mentioned their current financial struggles (they were in their 30s and 50s). Corporate pays more but it seems so depressing! Want an external opinion of whether law school seems to be a fit for me. [Note: The failing grades were when I started as a Bio major, once I switched to CJUS my jr year, I aced & caught back up.]
Goals: 1) Law school Fall 2027, and 2) Become a Criminal Lawyer (with the exception of PI), and build up to solo practice.
QUESTIONS:
- Did anyone regret choosing this professional (advocacy and why)? The child s3x abuse cases or rude clients don't bother me (so please don't include that).
- How important is the prestige of a law school for my goals (I want to minimize debt).
- Is the job market oversaturated. I fear that this is a bad ROI because the I personally know people who passed the Bar but cannot find work (East Coast).
~ Thank you for taking the time to read this!
