Carnassial tooth broke

Hi! My 1 and a half year old 40 lb rescue (she is a pit, husky, lab chihuahua mix) has a broken carnassial tooth. The vet said that would be best to just pull it and we have an appointment set to do this on Friday. I am so so so anxious about this because she is my baby and I have no idea what to expect. I also feel like a horrible dog mom for allowing this to happen in the first place. Please let me know if you have had any experience with this procedure and what the recovery looked like. How many days should I take off to be with her? Thank you so much in advance!!!!
