This is what fixed the regular system crashes on my ProArt P16 H7606WX

Support - SOLVED!

Let me first say, against all the hate here on this sub I love my ProArt, the hardware specs are amazing the steel casing, keyboard, mousepad are superb, I fell in love with this device.

The only sobering thing was after getting my machine (the latest model from end of 2025) that Windows kept crashing multiple times per week. Sometimes the screen also remained black after waking the device up from sleep mode. Looking at the reports here on Reddit this seems to be an issue across all ProArt devices. This instability was very close to being a dealbreaker for me. Imagine you're going to a meeting room to join a video call and 1 minute before the meeting starts your machine crashes. Horrible.

But from my extensive experience with computers this didn't really feel like it's the hardware. My current theory is that it's the ASUS-custom drivers that are buggy.

While searching for solutions for my crashing problems I stumbled upon this post where the guy re-installed Windows immediately in the beginning to have a clean installation and then he installed alternative ASUS control software and everything is working perfectly fine.

If doing a complete re-install is not an option for you because you are too knee-deep in work (like me) then

Try this:

- Type `Win + R`, then in the box type `services.msc`.
- Deactivate all ASUS related services except "ASUS Optimization" via right-click -> Properties -> select "Deactivated" instead of "Automatic".

Disable ASUS related bloatware services running in the background

Then restart your machine.

The `ASUS Optimization` service is responsible for your keyboard backlight, the F-key behaviour and mode switch when you plug your power in-out. Without it your keyboard with keep on glowing on-off.

The `ARMOURY CRATE ProArt Service` seems to very agressively self-reactivate itself into automatic start mode again after you disable it, so there is no chance on really disabling it.

Disabling all other services comes with the following caveats:

- That circle-selector thing on your touchpad won't work anymore
- The MyAsus app will not be able to check for updates related to your device anymore. The functionality that you have configured in the app, for example "only load battery up to 80%" etc. will still work normally.
- Your machine will not switch between "Power mode", "Silent mode" etc. when you plug your machine in out (as set in the ProArt app).

If you start the MyAsus app it may put some of these services back into auto-start mode. For example if you start the ProArt app via the F12 key it will start the `ASUS ProArt Service` and `ASUS ProArt Update Service` again and put them back into automatic startup again. Also after updates have been installed it's possible that some of these services get re-activated into auto-start, so you should keep an eye on the services list from time to time.

What this gets you: A system that does not crash regularly! At least in my case. I've been running my machine like this now for a few weeks and the crashes have disappeared so I felt like I needed to share this information. Please let me know in the comments if this works for you as well.

Why this works (my hypothesis):
You hardware works great, the ASUS drivers by themselves are also working well if they are being left alone. But all the additional ASUS bloatware keeps interfering with the drivers:

These higher-level services are probably communicating with the lower-level hardware drivers

Each operating system has a well protected core (the kernel) which operates really closely to the hardware and provides basic functionality for everything else. Hardware drivers live in the kernel-space. If a driver fails it can crash the entire system.
Then there is the user-space, this is your desktop where the programs as you know them and the background processes that you see in the Task Manager are living.
The ASUS "optimizations" services that they put on the ProArt machines are living in the user space. If they are not cleanly programmed it's not too much of a deal, the app or service will just crash (and background services will restart). No problem here. But if these buggy optimization services have an interface to talk to the corresponding drivers in the kernel space and they mess the driver's state up with their communication then a buggy program can crash the entire system.

TAKE NOTES ASUS SUPPORT SERVICE!

Bonus actions you can also take (definitely a good practice):
- Disable fast boot on Windows (google how to do this). This will not really impact your startup time, since you are usually always starting from hibernate or standy mode. And even if you are doing a restart from time to time, this machine is so fast you will not feel a difference.
- Update your BIOS to latest (via MyAsus app)
- Update your AMD drivers to latest (AMD website)

I hope this will help someone. As mentioned, if you want to have a more radical purist approach follow this post.
