35 Years - Finally Have the Answer

I'll keep the details of my history short since we all know what we're here for and how tough it is, not to mention we tried everything. Over 35 years I've been to doctors, proctologists, and dermatologists, health food stores...steroids, antifungals, natural cures. Some worked to varying degrees.

I was in to see a new dermatologist for a weird spot on my leg and knees and she asked if there was anything else going on. I mentioned my frustration with pruritus and asked for a refill of my favorite steroid cream / anti fungal that gave me some relief. She gave me a prescription for Fluticasone Propionate Cream, 0.05% which I had not tried yet. Said to apply twice daily for one week then twice per week as needed. Other creams were always "too strong to use long-term you're going to make it worse". I confirmed, really twice per week is okay like for the rest of my life if I need to? Without hesitation she responded "Yes".

I used it 2x per day for 1 week, then once the following week, then not at all for like 3 months. I was amazed. Completely gone, not a hint of an itch or urge to scratch, I felt like a normal person. It comes back once in a while and I use it once and it's gone again. It's been about 6 months and I'm so happy! 1x per week is my sweet spot but sometimes I just forget and weeks and weeks go by without any symptoms. I can't believe it.

It's a strong cream, but this is the first doctor that gave me the freedom to use it more than short term because anything more would thin the skin and make a bad situation worse per other doctors and articles I had read. I had one follow up visit and she took a peak and said all is well. I'll remind her to take a look at my yearly checkups. I'm not sure if it's the product itself giving these results or if it's that she gave me the confidence to use it long term but sparingly.

I hope this helps somebody, good luck!
