Analysis: A Tribe Called Quest - "The Killing Season"

"Bleedin’ through this mic, but they call it entertainment"

• A Tribe Called Quest, The Killing Season (Released: November 11, 2016)

Genius Annotation:

Artists frequently talk about their own experiences and what they know through their music, but casual listeners/people who don’t know the deeper meaning (referred to as ‘They’) just recognize the music as something of entertainment, completely disregarding the story behind it.

‘Bleedin’ through the mic' can be compared to ‘pouring my heart out’ in that the artist is talking from their own experience.
