The many facets of life as an indie author
Indie authors… yeah we don’t make a lot. Add into that being a mother, a full-time corporate employee, a graduate student, and a whole ass social media manager to my brand and it can be overwhelming.
Things slip through the cracks all the time. And things never ever go according to plan.
Case in point: Steel Magnolia Sin was supposed to go live in 21 days, but I’m confident that is not going to happen since I haven’t finished editing or formatting yet 😅Life happens, I guess, and we are left to determine how to handle it.
Between ice skating for my boys, a teen who has adopted the hermit life, and everything that comes with household management, I’m definitely collapsing into bed every night. It’s a fun life, but it’s not for everyone.
Funny thing, though. This past Sunday, I submitted my final discussion board post for a leadership class within my MBA and realized that subconsciously I’d put into effect in my personal life that allowed me to squeeze everything out of every day that I could. Not well at all, but it’s a start. If I can be adaptive in my writing and management of my author biz, I’m not likely to get overwhelmed.
I can plan to my heart’s content, but if I’m not flexible with my time, things will—and do—get lost in the shuffle.
My point is, keep doing5 what works best for you, and give yourself the grace you deserve. Especially if you are in my shoes, juggling 5011 things at once.
