Hackers in Ranked + Suggestion to Bungie for Quickly Addressing the Issue
In the last 24 hours, I have encountered multiple hackers on Ranked. Wall hacks mainly. Hard for Bungie to stop. The reality is Anti-Cheat's suck. The only way to fix hacking is manually spectating players and banning them.
Example of wall hacks: My two teammates get downed. I evac the area and tuck myself deep into a vent corner or behind something up and away from where anyone would look. Completely silent. No movement. No switching weapons. Nothing. No one around me at all. Then 1-2 mins later the same team runs straight to my location and pre nades the location blindly, or they run straight away to me with shotties. No recon class. No Tad up. Just hacking. Lost a full purple loadout with materialist purple bag.
Some aimbotting as well. How do I know? They were preaimed at my location twice without reason to be and didn't miss a shot. Then their shots tracked my movement even through walls and doors (can see the glass and watch their shots follow you precisely.)
If Bungie wants the game to survive, they need to hire a team of admins spectate ranked matches (with all player locations enabled) and actively monitor for cheating behavior. It is not hard to spot. The game's player base is small enough now that if they get a report or two on a player, they can assign an admin to spectate the player unannounced to the player. The ban him if hacks are confirmed such as tracking players through walls, aim botting, or knowledge he shouldn't have. Seriously, it's not hard to train someone to know what to look for, record the gameplay, and then issue a ban. Wrongful bans can be contested. Evidence evaluated if needed.
The only way to handle this is through good old admin's spectating games. If they just hired a 10 people to monitor ranked games and investigate reported players, they could fix this problem practically overnight. I can see a bright future for the ranked mode in this game if they can fix the hacker problem in a timely manner.
