I was big into comics as a teenager. At some point, I think it was my first year of college, I walked away from it all. Comics, toys, everything. I sold it off and moved on.

Then the pandemic hit. About six months in, the cabin fever started to get real. I needed something to keep my mind occupied, something to break up the routine. I started exploring different hobbies, just trying to find something that clicked again. Getting back into comics felt a bit overwhelming at the time, so I went in a different direction. I started browsing eBay, looking up some of the toys I had as a kid.

That is when I came across the talking KITT from Kenner. I had one back in 1984, and just seeing it again brought everything rushing back. The memories, the feeling of opening it, all of it. It was listed for 80 bucks and I did not think twice. It felt like an easy decision.

That one purchase opened the door.

Fast forward six years and now I have built up a pretty extensive collection. Everything from Star Wars Black Series to G.I. Joe Classified. Somewhere along the way I found my way back into comics too. And on top of that, I ended up creating EpicCollector.com, which has become a huge part of my life.

Looking back, it is kind of wild to think it all started with that one eBay purchase.

What about you? Do you remember the first piece that kicked off your collection?
