Going for a breakaway in April 2026. Which luxury hotel in London is most worth the splurge?

My husband and I are thinking about doing something a little out our normal routine and I’d love some advice. He just got a surprise bonus at work (very unexpected!) and suggested we use part of it for a little getaway to London this April. It would basically be a last-minute long weekend for the two of us.

We have kids and most of our travel the past few years has been family trips where the focus is more on convenience. I really can’t remember the last time we went somewhere just the two of us to properly relax and reconnect (and I’ve never been to London!).

Since this is a bit of a “treat ourselves” moment, we thought it might be fun to stay somewhere a little grand. We've looked at the websites of a few, like Four Seasons, Langham, the Ritz, and the Savoy, but we’re not regular luxury hotel people (obviously ahaha), so I’m a little overwhelmed trying to figure out which ones would be worth the money versus which ones are just hype!

Ideally we’d love somewhere that feels a little romantic and special, but also has things to do in the hotel itself. Must haves are great restaurants, a spa, a club lounge with an authentic British vibe, and a luxury afternoon tea experience. We don’t want to feel like we have to plan every minute outside the hotel (although we'll also be out and about quite a bit) 🙂
