Currently an on the job trained scrub tech, minimal college credits, don’t know what to do next
Hi! I (24F) am a scrub tech in MI that was trained at a facility. Before that I was a nurse tech. And before THAT I was an IC and key holder for a retail store for 3 years.
I graduated high school and took some college classes online, but have been moved out and on my own since I was 20 so I didn’t always feel I had time to do everything. I also just never enjoyed school even though I did very well in it.
My current dilemma is that I am unhappy and unfulfilled. I feel very stuck where I work because there isn’t much upward movement in my position. I never really passionately wanted to be in the medical field but it was there and I knew I could do it. I like helping people so I thought I could learn to love it. It’s alright but I dread going to work and feel like a prisoner at my job.
I always wanted to do something revolving around environmental conservation or sustainability, and I’m willing to try to take classes but I don’t know how to go about it. I know I should get an associates, so is it alright to get an online associate anywhere (so I can work still, because I need to live lol) and then try to find programs that steer more in the environmental direction I want after I have one? I really just feel so lost, I don’t know where to start. All I know is I’m unhappy and would need an online program to best fit into my life right now if I do go in that direction.
Literally ANY advice at all is helpful. Even if it’s “you just need to find purpose and joy where you are” type of thing.
