Newly diagnosed

I Have Lipedema [Experiences/Photos]

Hi everyone, I hope this is okay to post. I was recently diagnosed with stage 1 lower limb lipedema and I’m honestly feeling pretty overwhelmed.

For context, I’m relatively lean and muscular, but I’ve always had disproportionately larger thighs compared to the rest of my body. I was recently referred to a vein specialist for a suspected DVT (which was ruled out), and ended up being diagnosed with venous insufficiency, May-Thurner syndrome, and lipedema.

I’m trying to figure out how to manage this early so it doesn’t progress. I’m very active (I lift about 5 days a week and also run/do cardio regularly), and I eat pretty clean overall (lower carb, minimal alcohol). I also have PCOS and insulin resistance, which I know can complicate things.

A few questions I’d really appreciate input on:

•	Has anyone used GLP-1 medications to prevent diseased fat from worsening?

•	What compression recommendations do you have?

•	Are there specific things I should avoid that could make it worse, or thing I should do to help?

•	What has helped most with pain and swelling?

I feel like I’m getting a lot of information all at once and don’t really know where to start. I just want to do everything I can early on to prevent it from worsening.

Any advice, experiences, or guidance would mean a lot. Thank you 🤍
