What is Anglican parish life like in England?

Is it different in the cities vs towns vs villages? Are Sunday services busy? Do people of all ages volunteer? How close is the priest to the people of the parish? What are the demographics of the clergy and the laypeople eg age, are there many people of immigrant heritage etc?
