Why not use an endoscope for a Speculum?

Why isn't an endoscope used for a pap smear?

You could insert a small endoscope, use a long type of covered Q-tip. Then with the endoscope you can see when you're at the cervix. You take away the cover of the Q-tip, do the poking and smearing, cover the Q-tip back up and take it out.

Would at least be less stressful as the thing they crack your vagina open with (and then don't even tell you for 15 years that it was a completely useless thing to do, cause it only needs to be done if you've had sex 🙄)

I know there are other version coming out, figuring out the cervical cancer through period blood and so on. But this would my idea would basically still be the same as it's being done right now, easily could be translated in no time and most women probably wouldn't have as much of an issue with it, cause a small endoscope would be less painful than the speculum.

Just had a quick look. Apparently a small endoscope opens the vagina 2cm. A tiny endoscope can be as small as 0.78mm... ofc the Q-tip type thing would be also needed and maybe the endoscope would need to be a bit bigger. But overall it would still be less horrific than a current speculum, no?

Hope you can answer :)
