Thought isn't something anybody owns.
Folks always think that when we point to silence as a method towards realization that it means you're quiet for the rest of your life. Somewhat. Not because you're restraining thoughts though.
Nobody can stop thoughts. And for the sake of it, thoughts are mind. Mind is language. Nobody owns language and nobody can stop it. We borrow it as a matter of convenience.
"Hand me that spatula over there please?"
That's all mind. The hand, me, the spatula, you and whatever distance sits between doesn't exist apart from language saying "hand," "me," "that," and so on. All the division comes from language which is borrowed.
It's like a hammer you borrow from your neighbor. You use it and give it back.
We have a habit of obsessing over the tools though. The hammer becomes who we are. "I am somebody got dammit." Well okay, you are some body. Sure.
There are all kinds of bodies. Planetary, for example. Then of course there's a gnat.
That's the scale of this Whole Show, which doesn't have any separate parts apart from borrowed language.
So then, if you're tight about holding onto thoughts, don't be. Let them come. Watch them go.
