Surgery scheduled
Hi all. My surgery has been scheduled for late May. I was a bit shocked that the surgeon recommended a hemi thyroidectomy, rather than a full, for follicular thyroid cancer. She said that I could have the TT if I wanted, but that in cases that are fairly contained looking (knowing that if she gets in there and it does not look good, she can do a TT), she usually just does the hemi. I'm okay with this. Just wasn't what I was expecting.
Anyway, all of this might be moot because at the end she did a laryngoscopy and said that my vocal cords are not moving normally, which might indicate involvement with my voice box. Has anyone had this experience? It also wasn't on my bingo card, but maybe I was just unaware?
