A Steady Glow

We spoke our last goodbye today,

a quiet hug, a trembling tear—

two fractured souls still reaching out

through love we’ve held so dear.

I miss you more than words can hold,

these tears are just a trace

of all you are, of all you’ve been,

of all I can’t replace.

I own my faults, my failings too,

the hurt that I have made—

I carry them, I name them all…

but do you bear your shade?

For me, love was always enough,

I gave what I could —

it aches to break just as I learned

a saddened way to live.

You were my world, you still remain,

though I’ve slipped from your view—

and something tender turned to pain

in all I was to you.

I wish you neither hurt nor harm,

no shadow, no regret—

just dreams of some distant day

our hearts might still be met.

Not burning wild like we once knew,

nor lost to ash and flame—

but something soft, a steady glow

that time cannot unname.

*I miss you dearly, I really do - let's fix it for who we know we can be*
