Got scared my shop would get left behind when ChatGPT added checkout, but it flopped. Using this as a space to compile advice on staying visible in AI search.

When I heard about ChatGPT adding instant checkout initially, I got scared my little .shop might get buried. I got the advice from someone here to start boosting site content because of how AI crawls sites for data.

Apparently the checkout feature ended up not being popular at all. I read this article that said their purchase tool was their least used feature, and that people were still just using it as an answer engine to research products. It's relieving, for now.

I was hoping to use this space to compile advice for what small business owners can do to make AI work for them. Here's what I've gathered so far:

Ask ChatGPT what it recommends in your category

Beef up your product descriptions with specific details and use it to answer the most commonly asked questions about those products.

Create blog posts, FAQs, and buying guides for your site.

What are you all doing to stay visible in AI/LLM search?
