Just got properly scammed by a feet buyer for the first time

A guy messaged me asking about a short video call that he'd give me 50 dollars for, I added him on discord, gave him my PayPal, and he requested to pay during the call as to make sure he wasn't being scammed.

Stupid me didnt tell him to pay the second the call began, and afterwards I realised he had blocked me on reddit and discord.

I know this was my fault for trusting a stranger but I cant help but feel really disheartened right now. Are there any buyers like this who dont scam?
