Kitchen Aid refrigerator not working again
My KitchenAid refrigerator first stopped working the week before Christmas. The freezer stayed cold but the refrigerator got warm. I have the kitchen aid extended warranty. Kitchen aid sent out a company that they contract with and they ordered a new freezer fan, thermometer, and ice maker and replaced those parts after 3 weeks with no fridge. 1 week later the freezer would no longer get cold and as a result the refrigerator wouldn’t stay cold. They came back out, ordered more parts (new motherboard and something else). 2 more weeks go by before they install those parts. Everything is working fine for about a month and then the freezer will no longer stay cold again. Through this whole process I have lost at least $700 worth of food and have to use a mini fridge for weeks on end. At this point I’m convinced this company is refusing to say the fridge is unrepairable just so they can continue charging KitchenAid service fees because why would they say it’s unrepairable if they can just keep replacing parts that don’t actually fix the issue and continue getting money from kitchen aid. When the fridge initially went out it was in part due to the fan, but I took the back panel off in the freezer and the freeze pattern along the coils looked like multiple other threads I have seen online saying they had a sealed system leak/issue. Not once has this company pulled the fridge out and looked at the back and only once have they looked at the coils behind the freezer. We are expecting our first kid in 1 month now and have sold the house with move out date in a couple months. I can’t keep having the freezer break, especially if we plan to freeze breast milk. Has anyone else had this issue with KitchenAid and their contracted repair companies. It would have been cheaper at this point for KitchenAid to have just got me a new fridge from the start, I mean it’s all been free for me ($50/month) but I would have just bought a new fridge day one if I knew this was going to be a never ending part replacement with weeks between repairs.
