Amana washer not always filling or cycling

we bought this set about a year and a half ago and now the washer is giving me issues. it's really weird to describe but sometimes it'll pump but no water, sometimes it'll put enough water in to get things wet but not full and other times it'll do nothing at all. it also seems to be struggling with the spin cycle getting the water out.
