Second Road Trip Done
I bought the car in January 2026 and took it from Columbus to Chicago and back shortly after. It was cold and windy, so the range was definitely reduced.
Just drove it from Columbus to Springfield, MO over Easter weekend. Range was better, especially on the way home when we had a tail wind.
Overall it was a great experience. Very comfortable on long trips. We took our dog, and he had plenty of room to stretch out. Cargo area held our luggage, dog supplies, and a plug-in cooler that we powered thru the back seat V2L plug.
The only quirk really was having the car display an “EV charging destination has changed” message pop up on our way to charge in Indianapolis. I clicked into the navigation, but it was still showing us stopping at our original charging destination (a Tesla supercharger at a Meijer). But it actually navigated us to a different supercharger. Not a big deal, but were counting on the convenience of a Meijer for restroom and sustenance and ended up without a convenient restroom dining stop.
I pre-planned charging stops using PlugShare. We hit a few IONNA rechargeries (Richmond, IN; Terre Haute, IN; Festus, MO) and some Tesla chargers (St. Robert, MO; Indianapolis). Our hotel had a Tesla destination charger.
We did almost get taken out by a FedEx truck while on a two lane road in Missouri (see dashcam footage). Other than that little scare, it was a comfortable and uneventful trip.
