Short Term Fostering Tips?
Hi, forgive me if all of this has been asked. I read the Bootcamp re-post and other posts by members and they have all been super helpful. I am brand new to fostering. I was just approved and haven't had my first foster yet. I will be fostering for local animal control and the average length of fostering is usually 1-2 weeks. Animal control seems to turn dogs over very quickly.
Until now, I have been doing field trips with dogs at animal control, but I take my resident dogs to doggy daycare on those days so I don't have to worry about them meeting. Now that I will be fostering, that will change. I have 2 large resident dogs that are not young anymore, but still energetic. They love other dogs and I am curious about how it works if I am crating the foster around them.
Do people crate the foster AND keep it in a separate room? Won't my resident dogs just stand next to the foster's crate constantly? Will they be barking? I don't know how my dogs do with a crated dog. Any advice would be helpful on crating, introductions, etc. Animal control has no rules about keeping them separated.
