How do you use Leontus?

Heya, i was wondering how do you properly utilise Leontus.

In the first games i played i had him hide in my deployment zone with 3 basilisks to order.

After i learned about the trick with the command squad, i had him in mortar unit with command squad hiding in deployment zone ordering tanks in the midfield and a basilisk.

I won games like that, but having 200+ points sitting in your deployment zone essentially for 3 orders always felt "bad".

I now had the thought of moving that big blob of minis further into the field to secure an objective.

But a unit of guardsmen will get insta whiped in melee, no?

Whats the correct move here, hide in deployment. Or move into mid-field contesting objectives but risking getting whiped.
