Smart thermostat upgrade? 2001

In process of moving into a 2001 home in DFW. 2011 Rheem condensing unit & 2012 Goodman furnace with the original 2001 Honeywell thermostat.

I was considering upgrading to a smart thermostat but see negative feedback on this subreddit and others. Either the temperature gauge is wrong, glitches, or other misc issues. Are there any smart thermostats you’d suggest?

Or, should I just keep w ol reliable “dumb” Honeywell thermostat? I do like the idea of being able to update the temp through my phone & measure humidity etc.
