Younger brother is condescending

Younger brother is in his 30s and lives with our dad. He took over the business our dad started and it’s just them working there.

I live in an apartment in a city that is expensive, but I got a cheap place because the landlord hasn’t raised the rent in like 15 years. They also don’t fix a lot of things. It’s big and has an attic space, it’s cheap but needs work.

I was telling my brother I want to fix up the attic to have a studio space. He couldn’t wrap his head around the fact that I’d be fixing it up, and not the landlord. He usually acts condescending with issues like money, even though he doesn’t own a house or rent and hasn’t rented in a long time. His thought process is that it’s not my house so why put the effort in. I tried to explain the situation and that I just want to make the best of it and keep my rent cheap.

I’m so annoyed at him looking down on me. He has had a lot given to him and fully expects our dad to cheaply sell him a house or it be given to him eventually.

I’m sick of him acting snobbish when he doesn’t have to work a 9-5 and pay rent on top of saving for future purchases. I just cut off my sister and I’m really about to cut him off too. Idgaf anymore.

I’ve held onto maintaining tough relationships while it was popular in the last 6 years to cut people off and cancel them. I’m over it. I hate my family. I hate trying when they are rude, emotionally volatile, condescending and toxic people.
