Dining with a Japanese Family

We are taking our third trip to Japan and this time we are going to dine with a Japanese family. We have purchased small gifts for the children and intend to bring flowers for the adults. Is there anything in particular we need to know about protocols, etc? Thanks for any advice you can offer.
