How to get started on OE

Hi ladies,

Good morning! I am 28female and currently working full time in a school. Making 90k and the job is very laid back, flexible and I get along very well with my managers/coworkers. I was working in a private firm before here, making 115k but it was very high pressure and stressful. I took the paycut because I just didn't know how to process that level of stress, and honestly my bosses were very crappy.

I joined this thread because I was curious to see how women managed this. I'm currently averaging out about ~15 hours of work weekly, and that's on really busy weeks. It's been this way for about a year. I'm very bored and I was considering quitting to get a higher paying job, but honestly the benefits are so good and the pay for the amount of work is also sweet. I'm also planning to go to school and get a masters on applied analytics (tuition would be very covered). Someone else mentioned that I should just use my spare time to get a second job. So I'm wondering if anyone can offer some tips on how to get started.

My current situation is this:

  • 5 days in office
  • unlimited sick time
  • 1 month of vacation yearly
  • have my own private office
  • I previously worked in customer services (during my teens/early 20s during college). I did B2B account management. The transitioned into real estate management and worked with the leasing brokerage a lot. Now I'm working in legal matters for tenants/landlord - the school is the biggest landlord in the city I work in.

I am detailed oriented, love reports, can do data entry? I thought about looking for consulting work for leasing/legal matters but I haven't had much luck. All the postings I've found are people looking for full time employees.

I think I would need some kind of remote role where I can work part-time; just to start and see how it goes? The paycut is killing me slowly and although I've learned how to manage my budget better, I just need to make extra money. I was thinking to pick up a restaurant job on the weekends but then I found this subreddit and felt like maybe I could get a part time remote job where I can work from my own office.

I would appreciate any feedback/insight on how to get started/what kind of roles to start looking for. I am truly in the dark and just want to gather more info.

Thank you all!
