SEO is Changed. Not only SERPs but everything else.
I've watched SEO evolve for past 2-3 years. Keywords → backlinks → E-E-A-T → helpful content. Every few years the goalposts move, and the people who adapted early won.
But what's happening right now feels different. It's not just another algorithm update.
Google's AI Overviews are answering queries before users even see a blue link. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, people are straight up asking AI instead of searching. And Reddit? Reddit is everywhere in SERPs right now. Like, aggressively everywhere.
So here's the uncomfortable truth nobody wants to say out loud:
Ranking on Google is no longer the whole game.
Your brand needs to exist in the places AI trains on and pulls from. It needs to show up in community conversations like Reddit, Quora, niche forums. It needs to be the thing people mention when they're talking to ChatGPT. That's the new backlink.
The marketers winning in 2025 aren't asking "how do I rank for this keyword." They're asking:
Will AI cite me? Are real people talking about my brand in communities? Am I showing up when someone asks Claude or Perplexity for a recommendation?
This isn't SEO anymore. It's brand authority, community presence, and AI visibility, all working together.
The job title probably needs to change too, honestly.
