Got a Berwyn parking ticket but I just moved here 2 days ago?

Online it says you have 30 days to buy a resident parking pass, ive been here 2 days, and I have a parking ticket for parking on a resident only street. Where can I park until I get my pass, and did I misunderstand the 30 days rule? Thanks
