Personal alarm gone terribly wrong

22 year old female.

Couple of months ago i bought a personal alarm and kept it as a keychain on my purse. I have one from umarex. It is apparently 120 to 130 db. Today it went off when I was exiting the car, I didn't know what was making the sound because I forgot about it - I thought it was something on the street. I was going with my cat to the vet's office and it was going on and on and eventually me and the vet got to the source. The noise seemed all encompassing, to the point that no one really knew what was making it, it sounded like the vet’s alarm. It was probably 20 or more minutes of me going around not knowing what the fuck it was. I am scared that my cat and I might've been hurt. Help!!!

I’m concerned about both of our hearing and generally mortified that this happened.
