Avene Cicalfate - ELI5

For people who used Avene Cicalfate to successfully clear up their PD, can you share how you used it specifically? Did you wear makeup with it? My mind is telling me: wake up, wash face, put it on, wait for it to dry... then makeup is ok? Then at the end of the day, wash face/remove makeup and put it on before bed... is that right? Is there more to it? Did I miss any important steps? I've had PD for 9 months and going to try this as I've heard lots of good success stories from it on here but want to be sure I get it right!!!
