Why are so many ED players insist on not improving the game in any way?

I recently made a couple posts in the ED forums about certain gameplay elements that I believed could be improved upon. These being game elements many other players wanted improved upon as well, going on years now.

I've noticed invariable these posts bring in comments from players who do not want the game improved upon at all and merely make excuses for FDevs and poorly designed and/or broken game elements. I don't understand why. Any possible request for improvement is met with opposition. I can understand the "if not broke don't fix" mentality but there is plenty in ED that needs improving, refining and fixing. For that matter ED is quickly becoming stale and primitive in the face of new games offering similar but much more enhanced gameplay.

If not enough of the player base request improvements then Frontier has no motivation to put the work in to improve the game. Which a segment of the player base seems absolutely fine with. Ultimately when a new game is released that does everything that Elite Dangerous does but better players are going to migrate over to that. Personally I'd be willing to pay for an improved ED game but it seems I'm more likely going to be paying to play some other game that offers a better experience in the near future.
