FTM, and I don’t want my fiancé in the room with me

(asking to see if anybody ever did that and regret it later )

I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and now that it’s only four weeks away, I’m pretty sure this is what I want for my peace of mind. I’ve been telling him how sometimes doctors just do things without letting you know first. I know I’m FTM, so it might not happen as often as it’s portrayed, but I like to be prepared I don’t like surprises.

I even asked him to make sure that if he ever notices something during my labor and the doctors don’t tell me beforehand, he should ask if it’s an emergency or if it can wait. But he keeps telling me I’m overthinking this its not gonna happen the doctor know best

While my ob is pretty old 🙄and i sometimes heard they loose patience and just do it i never said i refuse i just ask him to make sure its an emergency if they ever want to do it and let me know first .

We had a whole fight about it i end up telling him i dont want him to be there , he started acting nice the next day , mentioning being there every time he talks about the birth. He even drove around the hospital showing me where he’d go if my water broke. Now it’s making me feel guilty, like I’m hurting him by being serious about this. But I really don’t want that energy in the room with me.

Everything I’ve mentioned about this pregnancy seems to make him think I’m overreacting. For example, I had an infection and asked him if he smelled anything off. He said no, that I was overthinking, but a month later the doctor confirmed I had a yeast infection and this os when he confess that he did smell something for a while . I just can’t take that kind of dismissal anymore.

Honestly, I feel like I’ll never have those sweet moments where a partner advocates for their other half, and since this is my last baby, I really don’t care. I would honestly rather give birth by myself. My mom might be there, but if not, I really don’t mind.
