Have you been complimented on your handwriting?
Question up top.
I thought (and think) our elders' obsession with penmanship is clearly overwrought - "they can't read historical documents!" that are already digitized and widely spread? C'mon. that just means we need to protect libraries and archives. Accessibility is good actually.
I bulletjournal and keep a pocket notebook - partially for my ADHD and to avoid too much screen time. It's a process.
from 2019 on I've had *compliments* about my handwriting - "it's so pretty!" "you write like a maester" from a Game of Thrones friend. "Oh, I can't follow this but it's beautiful."
this is odd to me because one of my fundamental childhood things was "holy shit your handwriting is illegible and messy." I had a complex about this through my twenties - one of my exes has a breathtaking copperplate hand and I've always been insanely jealous of her for it.
I may have a bit of bias against my own penmanship because I'm on the subreddits for it's and peoples have crazy lovely writing with fountain pens.
so i ask again - when's they last time you wrote by hand? how do you feel about your penmanship? how do other people talk about your writing? how old or young are they?
