38f, 5'3, non-smoker, sober 2 years - first surgery ever as of yesterday

Hello. I'm looking for some advice, so I hope it's ok to do so here. First, why I'm here. On Tuesday, I had my husband take me to the emergency room due to abdominal pain and extreme nausea. My pain was presenting near the top of my abdomen, I think in my diaphragm area. When I was admitted, they did some blood work, an ultrasound, and a CT scan.

They told me I had an elevated white cell count due to appendicitis and I was scheduled for an appendectomy for noon the next day.

I'm now back home and free from the offending organ. however, I'm looking for advice on healing more quickly, if possible. I've been trying to walk around my house a little since my doctor told me it's ok to be a little active and they recommend it. light activity but no lifting anything over 10 pounds for about 2 weeks.

I have a hard time being still so walking and light activity are fine by me but I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on pain management, other than the minimally prescribed meds. is it alright for me to wear something to lightly compress my abdomen or should I wear baggy clothing?

What recommendations would you make to a patient who has undergone an appendectomy for a speedy or speedy-ish recovery? do you have a list of basic dos and donts that you think should or would be common since but aren't?

Anything is helpful.
