Hey guys, I'm new to superheroes. I've never really understood the appeal of superheroes. Why do people like superheroes?

So all I know is spiderman, and batman, but from Tobey Maguire movies, the one with Goblin and Dr Ock, which i barely catched on TV recently, which had even a video game with Dr Ock as main villain, which i played when i was really young. A friend asked me, you know any superheroes? I said Rhino, Puma, and he was kinda laughing, or confused i guess, never really heard of them, from that video game. And batman, i've seen the dark knight, the one with the bank robbery at the beginning, when i was younger, because it was on imdb top films. That's mostly what i know. I never watched MCU, like marvel, or DC, never grew up with comic books. I just never understood this.

I come from a different background, one that is not involved with superheroes, fantasy or scifi. More with realism. Like, movies with antiheroes, people that have flaws, old movies. My favourite movie is Double Indemnity, which is a film noir. So it's very different from superheroes. Superheroes aren't that popular in Romania too, i think, comic books aren't a thing here, more traditional folk, realistic books.

I just want to understand why superheroes are cool, what's the appeal with them, and how can i get into them, since a lot of my friends are into this and i want to relate to them and be cool like them. Like what did I miss? What would you guys recommend me to do to get into them, like what should i watch or how can i experience what you've guys experienced the first time when you've encountered a superhero?
