Advice on parks & rec part-time job while applying to my career
I graduated in December 2025 with my MPH in Epi. So far, I've been getting maybe an interview every 2 weeks since December mainly in either clinical research at universities or public health roles with my local health department. I've been doing a good job staying optimistic. The thing is, I currently work part time for my dad's gas station. I'm blessed to have a job, but I've been here on & off since I was 18 (I'm 24 now) and most days it takes a toll on my mental health. I recently got an offer as a part time recreation leader at a park nearby. it sounds fun and rewarding while also allowing me to get a good reference and also a foot in the door as a government employee. I'm hesitant to take it because I feel like it's wrong to take this job knowing that I'm interviewing and constantly applying to other relevant jobs to my career. Do you guys thing I should just take it? I can't imagine if I start just to immediately leave but at the same time, who knows when I'd get a real job relevant to my career so that shouldn't be a concern right?
