Question about surgical drain removal
Hello all!! I’m a ftm guy with a DI scheduled for next Wednesday (ahhh I can’t believe it!), and I had a question about surgical drains that I was hoping someone might be able to answer.
My surgeon’s office and place I’m getting the surgery are about three hours away from where I live, and while I have transportation arrangements for my day of surgery and possibly for my two week post-op, I realized when talking with my nurse that if I start outputting less then 20cc’s of fluid before that two week appointment, I’m in a bit of a pickle. Finding an impromptu ride up, since I doubt I’ll be able to do that three hour drive on my own, is going to be quite tricky as I don’t have that many people I can just ask for a ride, never mind of those few who wouldn‘t be working.
I know it will definitely be entirely up to my body when it starts outputting less then 20cc’s, so I can’t really plan for it, but if the drains stay in a little longer after they start outputting less then 20cc for two consecutive days, will there be any side effects or complications I should know of? Or should that be okay as long as it’s not a very long period of time? I tried looking up information for this situation and couldn’t find too much, so if anyone has any advice or experience, I would be beyond grateful.
Thank you!!!
