Nursing to sleep- am I putting future naps at risk?

My 16m old nurses to sleep always. Naturally, im worried when it's time to wean (hoping some time after age 2 .. but we will see lol) if this will prevent my baby from taking naps? I know it's important to nap until age 4 if possible so I don't want to impair that, but I've had no lucky getting LO to fall asleep without it. Does anyone have experience with this? How did you encourage napping without a nursing session?
