Bowel obstruction concerns/ needing some advice and/or share your experiences?
Hi everyone! If some can take the time to read & give some advice/tips that would be greatly appreciated. And before anything- I have already sent an email to my doctor and expressed the same concerns.
Recently I had a friend tell me (who is already a hypochondriac) that her mom who was on Semaglutide, for less than a year, and had regular bowel movements, had a sudden bowel obstruction from being on the medication. To the point she almost had to get a colostomy bag. As that already had freaked me out, a friend of hers who is an older woman, had a previous gastric bypass, more heavy set, got admitted to the hospital today for a bowel obstruction and “allegedly” got sepsis and now spreading to her lungs & heart due to her being on Tirzepatide & having that bowel blockage. As I don’t know the FULL details, that is how she worded it to me. So with me being anxious, here is a little bit about me/medication I’m taking & some concerns:
I’m 27 year old female, pretty healthy, started GLP-1 Semaglutide December 2025. Started at 183lbs and now down to 166lbs. Started with medVI, and now moving to Pomegranate health. I do have a history of constipation. I’ve had moments of pretty sharp abdominal pain when I’m hungry or there’s not enough food in my stomach when I first wake up in the morning. My stomach feels tender at times, like unsettling. I do get constipated on this medication but the longest I’ll go without 💩 is about 4 days. Back in February, I had a pretty gnarly stomach virus that lead to continuous vomiting & diarrhea. I went to the doc, and they gave me Zofran. Not sure if that was from the Semaglutide or the McDonald’s I ate.
Anyways, if anyone has had any similar experiences/ advice you can give me that would be awesome. I’m just really nervous now.
