Im visiting at the end of april

what are some non touristy things to do? nature, history, nerdy? and what are some stores to look for and ones to avoid downtown? I've been once 2 years ago around the same time for my birthday but im staying a bit longer and want to venture a bit more. I stayed in marblehead last time and it was gorgeous! I'm so excited to come back!
